On the 12th of October 2012, during the academic year inauguration ball at the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, Poland, its rector, prof. Adam Zając, has been handed an automated external defibrillator (AED) founded by the Natural Pharmaceuticals company (http://www.natural.pl). It will be available for use at the University campus.
On the 4th of October 2012 an introductory training on the use of the defibrillator was provided to the APE employees, also attended by the famous Polish biathlete Tomasz Sikora and local media representatives. The training has been organized thanks to the cooperation of Natural Pharmaceuticals with the 'Save with heart' project. Two follow up trainings are planned in order to reinforce the acquired knowledge.
'Save with heart' - the map of AEDs is an initiative aiming at developing a map of automated external defibrillators showing their closest locations throughout Poland. The project, initiated and managed by Dr Wojciech Rychlik, is supported by the Upper Silesian Medical Center and the 2KMM company. Its aim is to promote the PAD (Public Access Defibrillation) idea, to advocate common access to defibrillators and to propagate the importance of first aid.
2KMM has been engaged in the 'Save with heart' project from the very beginning. The company designed and developed the 'Save with heart' website (http://www.ratujzsercem.pl) and is currently responsible for its hosting, further development and promotion in social media. 2KMM also actively participates in the propagation of the PAD and AED ideas.
